BBQ forks are one of our favorite grilling tools. They give you the speed and precision to flip multiple items on the grill. You will move so quickly that you will lose very little heat on the grill when the lid is open, making BBQ forks better than tongs or spatulas for some grilling items. They are designed to be comfortable to hold and give you a good grip and nice balance.

We wanted to find the very best BBQ fork out there, so we looked through Amazon and made our top three choices. We rated each of the top three brands on the following criteria: Handle Length, Durability, Design, and Cleanup. Then we looked at any unique factors that might not be included in the rating criteria. When we put all of this together, we came up with an overall score of 1 to 5 (where 1 is the worst and 5 is the best).

We rated the very best as our Pitmaster’s Choice in the BBQ Forks category. You can see the brief overview and review down below, as well as the table of scores. To get a more in-depth analysis of each brand, all you need to do is click on the link.

Char-Broil Comfort Grip BBQ Fork

The Char-Broil comfort grip BBQ fork is made from stainless steel, with a soft rubber handle in black with red detailing. The body is all one piece of metal, the head has two prongs, and there’s a loop for hanging at the other end.

Overall I was impressed with this stainless steel fork. It’s solid and sturdy and fits nice in the hand. It looks good, particularly as part of a matching set. The small flaw with it is the hanging loop, which is of the piece of bent metal variety. The rest of the barbeque fork is nicely made, with a good design and a good finish, and then they mar the whole presentation with a simple piece of wire. A little attention to detail could have avoided this. Yes, it’s a minor thing, but there’s a lot of competition in the BBQ market, so maybe Char-Broil should re-think this one.

Original BBQ Weber Fork

You can tell as soon as you lift this Weber fork that it isn’t going to be top quality. It’s very light in the hand, although the grip is good and it’s well balanced. The head itself is too two small, although the tines are over 3” long, I would have preferred them longer. The tines aren’t as sharp as I’d like, they aren’t round, but are squared off. They might be safer than sharp ones, but they aren’t anywhere near as good for piercing raw meat, etc. They work fine with cooked meat, piercing without shredding, and can be used to safely turn hot-dogs without breaking the skin.

I can’t really recommend this particular model of Weber grilling fork. It’s too flimsy for heavy use, I have concerns about it’s longevity, and it’s actual function isn’t the best. Unless you’re going to be using it lightly and it matches your other tools, I’d say there are better designed and better made forks on the market.

OXO Grilling Fork

This grilling fork from OXO is made from polished stainless steel, with a large black plastic handle. It has two prongs and a hanging loop, which is built in to the handle. The whole thing is 13” long. The end of the handle nearest the shaft has several fins, which are designed to improve the users grip on the grill fork.

If we combine the solid non-slip comfort grip with the sharp tines, what we have is a useful, usable grilling fork, ideal for handling all kinds of meat with confidence. In the case of this OXO fork, function wins over form, it isn’t the prettiest tool in the shed, but it might be one of the sharpest.
