Roast Racks are great tools to have if you cook a lot of whole roasts, chickens, turkeys, or rack of ribs. The rack itself has two sides - the first side is great for roasts and birds. Its large surface area can hold a large piece of meat, especially if the rack is well-built and sturdy enough. Using this type of rack keeps the meat from directly touching the grill. This space allows more air to circulate around the roast as it cooks. The other side holds many rack of ribs. Since it holds the ribs upright, it also keeping them off the grill. This give them a nice bark on all sides of the rack.

Cave Tools BBQ Roasting Rack
The roast part of the product simply involves flipping the rack over, which provides you with a roasting rack, ideal for chicken, turkey, larger pieces of meat, and even hams. There’s plenty of room on there too, so it’s ideal for parties. And the BBQ rack keeps the meat off the grill, raising it high enough to avoid burning the bottom while also letting the juices run off.
The Rib & Roast rack can be used on gas or charcoal grills, in smokers, and even in a traditional oven for when the weather isn’t great for barbecuing.
Brinkmann Non-Stick Rib Rack
This makes the ribs easier to remove when cooked, and the dirt and grease should just wash straight off. If you do need to be more forceful with the cleaning, be careful what you scrub it with, as going at it with a wire brush will damage the coating. I found the design simple but adequate, it functions as it should with no frills. On the downside, I found the grilling rack held the ribs a little too close to the heat, which can potentially result in burnt bottoms. The handles to either side are also not ideal. They’re quite narrow, and too low, actually under the level of the meat, so lifting the BBQ rack from a crowded grill can be a little problematic. It’s nothing serious, but a point to consider when purchasing.
Overall, a solid product with an excellent non-stick coating, which does what it should, if no more, and the design isn’t the best available. Also, please note this is just a rib rack, and can’t be used for roasts etc. like some of the two-in-one products on the market.
Char-Broil Rib Rack
The Char-Broil rib rack is designed to hold ribs upright on the grill, to allow more even cooking and to save space on the grill top. This particular grill rack can hold six ribs at a time, which is more than most other BBQ racks on the market. The roasting rack is reversible, and so when flipped over it can hold poultry and other larger pieces of meat such as hams.
As soon as you pick this up you’ll notice it’s not as sturdy as some other rib & racks. At 12.8 ounces this rack is less than half the weight of the rib and roast barbecue rack by Cave Tools. Ok, weight isn’t everything, but it looks like it was designed to use the smallest amount of steel possible. The legs also add to this impression. As the handles become the stands when it’s flipped over, the whole roast rack is slightly unsteady on the grill, as the handles are too narrow.
Original Weber Rib Rack
The Weber 6469 is designed to fit most grills of around 22 inches and above, but will particularly compliment Weber’s own grills. It’s sturdily constructed to give you years of use, is easy to store, and easy to clean, as the bars are far enough apart to get a grill brush between them. It can be used on almost any type of grill, including the gas variety.
There are a couple of minor drawbacks: with long racks the ends can sag over and so not cook properly, and extended periods in the smoker can increase the cleaning times. But overall, the sturdy construction, two-in-one design and ease of storing (they nest together if you have more than one) makes the Weber rib and roast holder an essential item for any BBQing occasion.
