Wing racks are not super popular amongst barbecuers and grillers, but they should be. They are a great way to get crispy wings on the grill or smoker. When the air circulates around the wings from all directions, it creates the crispiest skin possible. These wing racks also give you more space on the grill so you can grill your wings and other items at the same time. In addition to grilling wings, most of these wing racks can also cook chicken legs and drumsticks.

We took a look at the four best wing racks and put them all to the test. We rated each and every one on a variety of factors. We then scored them from 1 to 5, where 1 was the worst and 5 was the best. The categories for each score were on Design, Durability, Capacity, and Cleanup. We looked at all the scores and each wing rack’s performance to come up with an Overall Score that included the tests as well as other unique factors from each wing rack.

Take a look at the table below to see our scores (one even got all 5’s!). You can read our summary review for each wing rack. You can also click on them individually to see a more in-depth review.

Cave Tools Chicken Leg Rack

The legs on this chicken wing roaster fold away for easy storage, so the first thing to do is pop them up. Hanging the meat is very simple. Chicken drummers hang straight on, although smaller ones might need a toothpick or similar. Chicken wings are hung with the point of the wing under the bar in the center, and that’s it.

Overall, I’m extremely impressed with this Cave Tools chicken wing grill rack. It’s designed by someone who is obviously a BBQ fan themselves, it’s well made and works great. If I was going to name a ‘product of the year’, this would certainly be a favorite to win.

Brinkmann Chicken Wing Rack

Loading up chicken legs on this Brinkmann drumstick holder grill is easy enough, they just fit into the slots. Although you might need toothpicks for smaller ones. Getting chicken wings to stay put isn’t so easy, even with the toothpicks. Once on the grill it works fine, turning out well-cooked chicken with crispy skin.

When you’ve finished grilling, the chicken wing roaster can be taken apart and put in the dishwasher. I found the drip tray burns the juices sometimes, and it’s not easy to clean if this happens. You can always line the tray with kitchen foil of course. You shouldn’t need to, but this is a budget item and so expect budget design and materials.

Char-Broil Chicken Leg Roaster

Basically, this chicken leg grill roaster is two semi-circular shelves, designed to add extra cooking space in the Big Easy fryer. Although it’s a shelf, more specifically it’s a rack for hanging chicken legs and wings. Installation is easy enough, the two halves clipping on to the circular rack that came with the fryer. If your rack has warped slightly with use, you might have to put a bit more effort in to the fitting, but it’s not too difficult. No tools or special skills required.

Cleaning the drumstick grill rack after use should be really easy, as the meat barely touches the rack. Unless you’re unlucky, a wipe down with a cloth is all it takes, but the shelves are fully dishwasher safe in any case.

GrillPro Stainless Steel Grill Wing Rack

I wasn’t impressed when I saw this wing roaster rack, it’s quite flimsy, obviously cheaply made, and the design isn’t the best. And despite it being called a wing grill rack, it isn’t that easy to hang wings, or thighs, on it. The slots on the rack will only take smaller drumsticks, and even then they tend to slide out if the rack is moved, or if you breathe too closely. I also had trouble getting the legs to stay in the slots they’re supposed to sit in. Again, any slight movement and out they pop.

When it works, this wing BBQ rack turns out well cooked food, it’s dishwasher safe and cleans up ok afterwards. But it’s not really a chicken wing rack, but more of a leg rack, although not really much of one.
