This particular Brinkman chicken wing rack is made entirely of stainless steel, with a brushed finish. There are two parts, the upper rack with adjustable legs, and a drip tray with handles at either end. The assembled item measures around 15” x 7” x 8”. The rack holds up to twelve chicken legs or wings.
Loading up chicken legs on this Brinkmann drumstick holder grill is easy enough, they just fit into the slots. Although you might need toothpicks for smaller ones. Getting chicken wings to stay put isn’t so easy, even with the toothpicks. Once on the grill it works fine, turning out well-cooked chicken with crispy skin.
I’m not sure about the need for the adjustable legs on this drumstick grill rack. The adjustment is small for each step, you’ll probably find it doesn’t make a great deal of difference to the end product, especially between one notch and the next one. Also, the rack can slip down the legs when the rack starts to expand with the heat. This is probably because the legs are simply U shaped pieces of metal, which can flex out of shape.
The drip tray is a nice addition to this drumstick holder grill, catching those lovely juices to make gravy or sauce. You can also put a few onions or peppers, etc. in the tray to roast in the juice. The tray also spreads the heat, so the chicken isn’t exposed to direct flame. You can use this item on most grills, and in the oven, if you prefer.
When you’ve finished grilling, the chicken wing roaster can be taken apart and put in the dishwasher. I found the drip tray burns the juices sometimes, and it’s not easy to clean if this happens. You can always line the tray with kitchen foil of course. You shouldn’t need to, but this is a budget item and so expect budget design and materials.
