These Cave Tools pigtail meat hooks are made from stainless steel with a polished finish, with black plastic handles. There are two in the set, one approximately 12” long including the handle, the other 17” long. The pigtail flipper is curved, slightly flattened, and ends in a point. The handles have holes for hanging.
As you’d expect from Cave Tools, these pig tail flippers are solidly made, with a thick shaft and a sturdy but comfortable handle. In this particular set there’s a long one and a short one. The long one in particular keeps your hands away from the heat, the short one is slightly easier to control. You can lift and turn fairly heavy pieces of meat with them, even a full rack of ribs, and it never feels like they might bend or you’ll lose control. The actual hooks are sharp, but not so they tear into the food too much.
Like many items, these pigtail food flippers take a bit of getting used to, but it’s well worth the effort. After a little practice you’ll be turning, flipping and moving around meat, veggies and all sorts of things. And yes, you can flip bacon with them, although they aren’t ideal for that.
You can use these pigtail meat flippers on almost any barbecue, and you’ll probably find yourself using them in the kitchen as well. I’d say if you had a pigtail bbq tool and a set of tongs, and a beer, you’re set for an evening of grilling.
And afterwards, they’re probably one of the easiest things you can ever clean. Only the hook part actually touches the food, unless you’re stirring sauces or something, and so that’s the only part that gets dirty. Even if they do need a good clean, they’re fully dishwasher safe, so no problem there.
And of course, you get access to the online recipes and a full lifetime guarantee, so you can’t really go wrong.
