The Cave Tools chicken leg rack is made from stainless steel, and measures 11” x 2.5” x 7.5”. The item consists of two parts; the upper rack and a drip tray. The rack holds up to twelve chicken legs, thighs or drumsticks. The deep drip tray catches the juice for use in gravy, etc. There are handles on either end of the tray. The legs of the rack fold for easy storage, and can also be removed completely for cleaning.

Chicken drummers hang straight on, although smaller ones might need a toothpick or similar. Chicken wings are hung with the point of the wing under the bar in the center, and that’s it.

The drip tray on the chicken leg grill rack serves three functions. Firstly it catches drips, which you can use in gravy or sauce. Secondly, you can roast vegetables in there, which will cook in the juices. And thirdly it helps spread the heat, so you’re not cooking directly over the flames. Also, if you aren’t cooking vegetables in it, you can add liquid to the drip tray, such as beer, to flavor the meat and add some moisture. Another advantage of this design it hold the chicken with the thicker parts nearer the heat, which is where you want it.

Cleaning this chicken leg holder couldn’t be simpler. The legs can be removed completely, and then legs, rack and tray can all go into the dishwasher.

Overall, I’m extremely impressed with this Cave Tools chicken wing grill rack. It’s designed by someone who is obviously a BBQ fan themselves, it’s well made and works great. If I was going to name a ‘product of the year’, this would certainly be a favorite to win.
