This Charcoal Companion jalapeno rack is about 9” square and 2” deep. It’s made from stainless steel with a brushed finish. There are thirty six 1” holes in the top, arranged in six rows of six. The folded sides of the metal form feet on two sides and simple handles on the other two.
If you’re heavily into grilled peppers, this jalapeno grill rack can hold thirty six of them at the same time, probably enough for most situations. The holes are a bit too close together for my liking, they tend to merge into a single monster pepper when the filling overflows. I’d like to have seen less holes with a wider spacing. I also think the depth of it is too low. I found myself searching through the jalapenos for ones of just the right thickness and size to fit in the holes without touching the grill, which is time-consuming and shouldn’t be necessary.
Moving the pepper rack around isn’t easy either especially when it’s hot. There are no handles to speak of, just folded metal that forms lips on two of the sides.
When it comes to cleaning up, the jalapeno BBQ rack isn’t dishwasher safe, so you’ll have to scrub it the old fashioned way. And make sure you dry it thoroughly before storage, as it will rust eventually.
As you might have guessed, this stuffed jalapenos rack isn’t the best quality. In fact the quality is very low, the finish is poor and it has some sharp edges that should have been removed. The whole thing looks like it was designed and made by people who didn’t know what it was going to be used for. It wouldn’t look out of place in a chemistry lab. There are far better, sturdier, or simply better finished jalapeno grilling racks out there, so I’d recommend you this product but with reservations.
