The Steven Raichlen jalapeno grill rack is made from stainless steel with a brushed finish. It measures 5” x 2” x 11” approximately. There are eighteen 1” holes in the item, in three rows of six. The ends are shaped into handles for carrying, and underneath it has two wide legs. The pepper grill rack comes with a tool for cutting and coring peppers, consisting of a steel blade and an ergonomically shaped plastic handle.
If you’re the kind of person who grills absolutely anything, you’ll probably want one of these jalapeno BBQ racks. You can grill eighteen peppers at a time, and they take up less room on the grill compared to lying them on kitchen foil. The rack can be used to hold the peppers when you’re filling them, and for transporting to and from the grill, remembering it will be hot when the jalapenos are done. The holes are designed to take the larger peppers, not the thin ones. You can also cook other items with this rack, including other vegetables, and even chicken drumsticks, anything that will fit really.
The pepper BBQ rack can be used with almost any heat source, although indirect heat is probably the best. It can even be used in the oven on rainy days, or if you don’t have a grill. Standing the rack on foil or a cooking tray is a good idea, particularly when using fillings like cheese, which can overflow. Unfortunately, this item can’t be put in the dishwasher, so you’ll have to hand wash it. Spraying or brushing with oil before filling and cooking will help reduce the scrubbing needed.
The corer that comes with the jalapeno barbecue rack isn’t the sharpest tool in the shed, nor the strongest, but it does work, especially after a few practice attempts.
This particular stuffed jalapenos grill rack is obviously made from a single piece of steel mass produced by a stamping machine, which means the quality and finish aren’t the best. And the corer is also cheaply made. But both items work as intended, and the cheap construction is reflected in the price.
