The Char-Broil rib rack is designed to hold ribs upright on the grill, to allow more even cooking and to save space on the grill top. This particular grill rack can hold six ribs at a time, which is  more than most other BBQ racks on the market. The roasting rack is reversible, and so when flipped over it can hold poultry and other larger pieces of meat such as hams.

It functions much like other grilling racks, holding the meat in place and above the heat and juices, which stops the meat burning. It’s made from stainless steel, so it’s easy to clean, you can just put it in the dishwasher. You can use it on most kinds of grill, and in the oven. The legs also act as handles, allowing the grill and it’s contents to be moved around more easily.

As soon as you pick this up you’ll notice it’s not as sturdy as some other rib & racks. At 12.8 ounces this rack is less than half the weight of the rib and roast barbecue rack by Cave Tools. Ok, weight isn’t everything, but it looks like it was designed to use the smallest amount of steel possible. The legs also add to this impression. As the handles become the stands when it’s flipped over, the whole roast rack is slightly unsteady on the grill, as the handles are too narrow.

Overall, if you’re on a tight budget, or maybe aren’t sure if this method of cooking is right for you, and you just want to try it, you won’t have wasted too much money. On the other hand, for only six or so dollars more, you could get the Cave Tools or the Weber version, and have a decent, solid product.
